The Tri-State Wellness team consists of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) and a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (RN, CDE). RDNs are trained to assist with your nutrition needs. The Diabetes Care and Education Specialist assists in providing the right information and support necessary to make diabetes self-care very manageable in your everyday life.

Wellness Programs

Individual Medical Nutrition Therapy Medical Nutrition Therapy is an evidence-based medical approach to help improve a person’s health and well-being through creating a comprehensive nutrition assessment, planning and implementing nutrition interventions including, personalized health education. The RDN will then measure and evaluate an individual's progress over regular follow-ups. Cooking Matters A free six-week cooking and nutrition class for adults that teaches how to create a meal plan, shop on a budget, culinary techniques, and adding flavor when cooking, in a manner that is healthy and pleasing to the pallet. For more information on Cooking Matters, click here. Intuitive Eating An empowerment tool that helps people separate from the prison of diet culture and weight obsession. This is an 11-week program with an approach that teaches how to create a healthy relationship with food, mind, and body. After completing the class, all participants have access to our ongoing monthly Intuitive Eating support group as well. For more information on Intuitive Eating, click here. Real Solutions Will help develop a personalized weight management system while learning strategies to overcome barriers to success. This class will discuss the basics of weight loss, tips to maintain weight loss, and how to get started with physical activity. This 12-week education program includes a Real Solutions workbook. What is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist is a food and nutrition expert who interprets nutritional needs of individuals to create practical solutions for a healthy lifestyle. As an essential part of your health care, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist’s will provide a patient with access to correct and useful information. Anyone can be a nutritionist but a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist must meet specific academic and professional requirements including: Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Food and Nutrition Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) approved Dietetic Internship or equivalent Registration through national exam by the Commission on Dietetic Registration Mandatory continuing education
